A. Samosas mini cheese or meat pies – 45 minutes
Is a common snack in South Asia, mainly in Pakistan and India. It is believed that it originated in Central Asia prior to the 10th century. It generally consists of a fried triangular/pyramidshaped pastry shell with a savory potato, onion and pea stuffing, but other stuffings like minced meat and fish are often used. The size and shape of a samosa, as well as the consistency of the pastry used, can vary considerably. It is spicy and is often eaten with chutney, such as mint, coriander or tamarind. It is often savored with tea or coffee. It can also be prepared as a sweet form, rather than as a savory one. In the city of Hyderabad, India, a smaller version of the samosa with a thicker pastry crust and mince filled center is called a Luqmi.
B. Harees Savoury Pudding – If Pre-prepared, 50 minutes
Is a traditional Arabic dish consisting of wheat, meat (or chicken) and salt. It is prepared by hitting the wheat with strong equipment that makes it soft and palatable. The way of making Harees is a speciality of women. Men with strong arms can help in making it soft. The harees is traditionally eaten with fat taken from sheep and cow. Harees is a rich meal and is filling. Even though Harees was once a traditional dish made at Arab homes, nowadays one can find it on the menu in any Arabic restaurant in Middle East countries.
C. Machbous – 50 minutes
Is saffron rice topped with either chicken or lamb, served with a tomato paste sauce.
D. Dhared – 50 minutes
Is very thin bread topped with stewed vegetables with meat or chicken.
E. Um Ali – 45 minutes
Translated as 'Ali's mother'. It is a pastry pudding with cream, bread, cinnamon and raisins and steeped in coconut milk.
F. Logaymate – 30 minutes
Are mini donuts topped with date syrup.
