4 IMPRESSIONS is a group exhibition by four international women artists and is part of the Creek Art Fair 2008 in Bastakiya under the patronage of Dubai Culture Council.
Wafa Khazendar is from UAE. She works at Dubai Ministry of Education (Department of Art & Culture Activities). She did Bachelor in Business Administration, Free study in Drawing and its techniques and she is Member of Emirates Plastic Arts Association, Member in Dubai International Arts Center , and Al Juman Group. She has participated in soirees of Emirates Writers & Authors Union, Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah and Cultural Assembly in Abu Dhabi and in a soiree among efficacies of Gulf Student Poetry Festival in its second session.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions worldwide.
Adonia Vakondios is from Greece. She studied at the Free University of Brussels where she graduated in sociology, After a short period as a cultural animator at an experimental center setup by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Belgium, She continued her studies on sociology with Cornelius Castoriades in Paris , France .On coming back to Greece while enhancing her skills in fusing glass, she worked with George Kazakos – independent architectural glass artist.
Continuing her creative work in Glass fusing, She created and animated workshops in glass all around Greece.She has participated in solo and group exhibitions worldwide.
Merete Sejersted is from Norway. She studied at the New York Academy of Figurative Art, at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (SKA) KhiO, at Ceramic dep. Arts & Crafts BA.(partial) inOslo , Norway, Myndlista & Handidaskolinn , Iceland. She is member in Norwegian Visual Artists Association (NBK) and in Sculptors Association (NBF). She has participated in solo and group exhibitions worldwide.
Rokeya Sultana is from Bangladesh. She did her MFA from Viswa Bharati at Shantiniketan, India. Rokeya received the Grand Prize at the 3rd Bharat Bhavan Print Biennale, India in 1995, the Bengal Foundation Award for Best Work in the National Painting Exhibition organised by the National Arts Council in 1998 and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award in 2002. She has exhibited extensively in the Indian sub-continent. Currently she teaches at the Department of Printmaking at the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka.

Between Expression and Symbols by Wafa Khazendar: Wafa continues observing the relationship between man and woman from one hand and between woman and internal environment from the other hand through the body, adornment, open spaces, continuous association with tales and myths so as to introduce a heating visual manifestation. Between portray and concept, the visual and the effects, Wafa traces the signs of her spirit and mind to decorate the space with her dream and confusion shadows.
Glass Art by Adonia Vakondios: Metallic oxides and other ingredients added to the molten glass produce richly ingrained colors while the glass was in fusion, and applied stains such as silver nitrate produce thinly coated films of bright red, orange and yellows. The term “fusing” refers to the technique where several pieces of glass, usually of different colors, are melted together in a kiln, this creates one unified piece of glass.
Figurative sculpture by Merete Sejersted: Merete’s work is by its very nature not hard to
comprehend, her true concern is to bring to light the abstract thoughts and ideas that can be
embodied in the physical, material work of art. A work of art reflects a high degree of artistic
knowledge and craftsmanship. It appeals to the viewer by means of its aesthetic form and
content.
Contemporary art by Rokeya Sultana: Rokeya Sultana has been able to create a new language, working with colours, lines and figurative images. In her more recent works Rokeya has broken taboos, challenged conventions and used artistic ambivalence to depict the crisis of existence and the march towards women's liberation. There is an interesting storytelling construct in her style.The value of her recent paintings add to the collective psyche and experience that comes through in the forms, and colours, one after another

Photographer Andy Whitaker has been based in the UAE since 1997 and also works as a freelance designer.
With his passion for the outdoors, he has photographed little-known and hidden locations of the UAE, providing startling insights to this rarely seen and surprisingly diverse landscape.
His images of the UAE are not normally associated with conventional Dubai photography that tends to concentrate on the modern city and its spectacular projects. Instead, he provides a glimpse of another side to life in Dubai and the other Emirates.
